JPS Events is owned and operated by seasoned entertainment professional John P. Spain. Long before he was a Voting Member for the Grammys (NARAS), he started his career in the entertainment industry more than twenty years ago while working at college radio. During that time, he has held several positions in the entertainment world. He has worked in Commercial Radio as an On-Air Personality and Promotions Director, Sales & Marketing Director and Promotions Manager at several record labels, all in one of the largest markets in the country, Chicago. He also has experience managing a professional 24 track recording facility. He has also coordinated, booked and planned several national tours.
During this time by sheer chance or destiny became familiar with a shelter for homeless teenage girls after donating food on a Christmas Day. Putting things into perspective after his visit, he decided to start his own fundraiser to assist the shelter. Two years later the event was raising over ten thousand dollars a year and literally trucks full of gifts for the kids each Christmas.
After 10 years in the music business he took his passion for events and giving and accepted the position as Director of Development for a non-profit organization in Chicago. With his passion and creativeness he created and executed dynamic fundraising events including Chicago's first Adventure Race long before the popularity of Survivor and the Amazing Race in addition to other funding raising events including: Golf Outings and Black Tie events.
With his passion for events he moved on to become the Director of Sales and Marketing for a Horse Racing Facility in Chicago where he was responsible for over a 2 million dollar annual budget. There he brought his creativity and executed some of Chicago's best events.
He has spent the last 10 years in Phoenix working for a fortune 200 company managing a sales department and heading up the Employee Engagement Group planning Team Building activities, Special Events and employee incentives for hundreds of employees.
He has been referred to as a philanthropist due to his involvement in numerous charities over the years and most notably Big Brothers Big Sisters where he was awarded the prestigious Big Brother of the Year award for the state of Arizona from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona. He has been a Big Brother for over ten years and has been double matched with 2 boys for over 8 years. JPS Events donates a percentage of every event we plan to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona.
